A Case Study Preview – Optimizing Roles, Competencies and Assessments

Over the past six months, my partners and I have been blogging about various aspects of an organization’s strategy and culture, roles, competencies and related assessment processes. We have also written case studies to provide concrete examples of how our concepts translate to actual situations in organizations.

Our latest case study is now available! We want to provide you a sneak preview of what it has to offer…

This case study specifically focuses on the strategy alignment of a start-up to growth company – it uses a technology company as the example, but the issues apply to any industry.

As we have been writing, organizations can easily lose sight of which roles are truly critical to their strategy and which competencies are absolutely required to perform each role successfully, especially those that are developing and growing each and every day. Once this strategy alignment is understood, the performance assessment process becomes much more valuable, to ensure that the right people are in the right roles to take the organization to the next phase of its life cycle.

After spending the time to listen and understand the strategy and culture of an organization, Prism Partners International embarks on a deep dive into the organization to begin the strategy alignment, focusing on culture and human capital performance. This case study takes the work that we do around strategy and culture and discusses how roles, competencies and the assessment process can be used to improve the possibility of success.

  • Roles:  As an organization grows and naturally shifts its strategy to meet its goals, the need for specific roles within the organization continues to evolve and change.
  • Competencies: Once the required roles are identified to take the strategy forward, it is then imperative that the organization identifies the competencies required to execute these roles successfully.
  • Assessments: Periodic assessments and the use of individual development plans will allow management to recognize the performance risks associated with a strategy shift and take actions to mitigate those risks prior to them disrupting the growth of the organization.

We invite you to download our latest case study and discover how to effectively analyze and address strategy alignment and culture issues at your organization to maintain focus and prioritization, and drive success as you continue to evolve.
